Expectations and Limitations

No two people have same expectations.Shouldn't people expect only what they give? But that puzzles also because if they are given more than they would like to give then it isn't it unfair on all concerned parties, even though it's done with good intentions?

I guess its fair to expect only what you can give, but then let's not put a cap on it. Once we like someone, we don't really calculate the difference between how much we give and take. This is how it should be although selfishness creeps in somewhere and changes the equations.

Very true.
But the other thing also can happen... guilt can set in if a person is given more than they expect or give.....

well that depends...expectations only manage to screw everything up...so its best to keep them aside...

reminds me of these lines from one of my fav songs---
"dhoop jo mile humein, dhoop mein liya hain dum...
chandni mile agar, chandni mein so liye...
hum hain raahi pyaar ke....humse kuch na boliye" :)

cheers!

There are 2 quotes that I like and they probably answer your question:

To be brave is to love someone unconditionally, without expecting anything in return. To just give, till you are empty. That takes courage; because we don't want to fall on our faces or leave ourselves open to hurt.
(Jimi Hendrix)

Another one:
It is when one becomes selfless that one identifies with one's self.
